The challenging is waiting for the Milky Way at one-third of the night. Just imagine that you have to wait in the low temperature and very cold before enjoying the Milky Way. Madakariputa Waterfall 

You might not expect a waterfall in a volcano mountain, right? It will be a new experience for you because there is a hidden waterfall close to the volcano mountain known as Madakaripura Waterfall. It is an ancient waterfall and considered a holy waterfall by the Tengger villagers. The water is taken not only for daily activities but also for some important cultural ceremonies. Madakarpura Waterfall consists of 7 different waterfalls.


Bromo is considered as a religious place for Hindu. That’s why you will also see a temple there known as Poten. Poten is an important Hindu Temple for Tengger villagers. The location is in the middle of the sea of sand in Mount Bromo. You can see the temple when you are standing at the top of the Bromo sunrise viewpoint.  

Hike to Mount Batok and Semeru

You can also hike to Mount Batok and Semeru if you need more excitement after exploring Mount Bromo. Mount Batok is also a volcano mountain located in the north of Mount Bromo. Unlike Bromo, Mount Batok is no longer an active volcano mountain. One of the interesting and beautiful attractions is the Casuarina trees. You can also decide to go to the south end of Mount Bromo to hike to Mount Semeru. The route is more difficult and challenging than Mount Batok and Mount Bromo. Bring Some Items to Protect You from Cold 

The weather in Bromo is so cold, especially at night or in the early morning. That’s why it is important to bring some items that can protect you from the extremely cold weather, especially if you are about to see the sunrise. Just put a jacket, scarf, socks, shoes, leggings, or jeans in your backpack. Later, you can wear those items to keep you warm in the cold atmosphere. 

Bring Some Items that Protect You from Dust 

You do not only have to bring items for cold but also items to protect you from dust. Bromo is a dusty area because of the sea of sand. You might need a mask, hat, and sunglasses while exploring Bromo, especially when you are in the sea sand and the Bromo crater. The mask is also useful to protect you from the smell of sulfur. You can bring everything you need for hiking so you can walk through the desert up to the peak of the volcano mountain comfortably. 

Bring an Umbrella or Raincoat 

You might go to Bromo in the rainy season. If it is so, you need to bring one more item which is an umbrella or raincoat. We can’t predict the weather and it might suddenly change. Just make sure that you are well prepared so the weather doesn’t disturb your exploration. Let’s say, you go to Bromo in December, you might face rainy season whereas if you go in June to September, you might face dusty condition. 

Bring Sunblock 

Bromo is a little bit hot, especially in the afternoon or in the dry season. Just imagine that you are walking in the middle of a desert without trees around it. That’s why you have to protect your skin by applying sunblock although you have covered it with thick and long cloth.

Bring Enough Cash Money 

The interesting part of visiting Bromo which is full of a desert is that you can still buy or rent something. Because of that, you must bring enough cash in your wallet. You can use the money to rent a jeep or horse or buy some food and drinks there.

You may go to Bromo anytime you want as long as the condition is safe enough. But you still have to think about going to Bromo in the best time. If you want to enjoy Bromo in a warmer condition, you can just go there in the dry season such as between April to October. The best time is from May to August so you don’t need to get disappointed because of the rain.
